Footsteps
School of Dance first opened in 1993 where I ran a regular weekly class in
a local church hall in Chingford with only a few pupils, teaching only
ballet and tap dancing. Through steady progress and extremely hard work
and commitment I now run three successful schools in Chingford, Loughton
and Chigwell totalling around 150 pupils who are mostly very dedicated and
hoping for a career in performance.
Classes now available include ballet tap modern theatre craft freestyle
street jazz ballroom and latin American and that's only in dance!
We also run classes in drama to suit all ages and standards and follow
the L.A.M.D.A. syllabus. The programme is designed to develop confidence,
self-esteem and communication skills. Singing tuition is also available,
since the advancement in classes available our name changed to Footsteps
Stage School.
My aim has always been for the students to enjoy their classes while at
the same time instilling a good level of discipline and a high level of
achievement, although at times strict the teaching at Footsteps is always
professional and above all fun!
Since qualifying as an I.D.T.A teacher at 18 I decided to continue as
far as possible with my dance career. I now tutor professional
dancers who wish to either maintain their ability or who have a hope for a
future in dance. Many other schools do not enter children for examinations
and this is normally an indication that the teacher is not a qualified teacher
with a recognised affiliation.
We are a very friendly school with professionally qualified teachers
who have a wide variety of experience to pass on. Please feel free to come
and watch a class and perhaps become another Footstep in the bunch!
